Welcome to the third installment of our Holidate series, where we make suggestions of some awesome things you can do with your honey this holiday season.
On Thursday, December 18th, meet your sweetie at CPCC’s Friends & Family Market for some last minute shopping. Closing time – for the season – is Thursday at 6pm! Patronage of this event supports local artists, the CPCC Student Art Club, and the CPCC Galleries. The market features local art, all priced at $50 or less.
After you buy some great ceramics from Ahmad Sabha or some sweet little paintings by Sharon Dowell, we highly recommend hitting Fern on Central Avenue (or at least the vegan member of HappeningsCLT does!). They don’t feature any local art but the food is typically tasty and well-presented. We’re sad the buffalo cauliflower is no longer on the menu, but their new seasonal menu has some other yummy new options: peppercorn encrusted vegan cashew cheese with strawberry balsamic jam, lentil shepherd’s pie, butternut risotto, and you can never go wrong with their buddha bowl. Save room for dessert!
After dinner, head to the McColl Center for Art + Innovation for their open-mic event, Drop Your Socks with Bad Santa. Bring new, unopened socks for entry into the event and do your good deed of the day: they will be donated to Urban Ministries. The improvisational performance will encourage audience participation. No telling what will happen when you mix holiday cheer and a little romance!
