This Week – February 9-15

We have been super busy with exciting arts events all over town. We hit the Matthew Steele opening at CPCC on Thursday evening, Pinky/MM Bass and Doug Baulos reception at the Light Factory on Friday night, and this weekend, we visited Venturing Out of the Heart of Darkness at the Gantt Center, Maja Godlewska: Self at the New Gallery of Modern Art, and Frames, the Cultural Initiative‘s project at Chop Shop, to name just a few. Wow! So here’s what we have on our calendars this week…

Tonight at the Mint Museum Randolph, Desmond Shawe-Taylor, Surveyor of the Queen’s Pictures, will give lecture entitled Through the Eyes of the Royals: The Queen’s Pictures from Henry VIII to Elizabeth II.  Registration required. $30 public/$20 members.

It’s Valentine’s Day on Saturday. Perhaps you haven’t picked up a little something for your sweetheart. Might we suggest art or something handmade? There are lots of good options locally, including Lark & Key, Hidell Brooks, or the gallery at Clayworks, to name just a few.
