Here’s where you will find the HappeningsCLT team this week!
Wednesday, April 8 is the opening of UNC Charlotte Rowe Galleries’ Annual BFA show: Idiosyncracy. Head up to the main campus at 4pm for a panel discussion with the artists and then check out the show during the Opening Reception from 5pm – 8pm. BFA and MFA shows are great places to find the best new talent in the area! Stay tuned, as there are several other ones coming up in the area in the coming weeks.
New Gallery of Modern Art opens two new shows on Friday: Isaac Payne: Intersections and Mary Ann Prack: Body Language. Check out this unique 2-D/3-D pairing at the Opening Reception on April 10 beginning at 5pm. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the reception, as the exhibitions will be on view through May 31. RSVP for the reception at (704) 373-1464.
It’s Slow Art Day on Saturday, April 11. A couple of local venues are participating, including CPCC Galleries and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture. The idea of this event is something we can really get behind: slooooowlllly look at 5 pieces of art at a participating venue. After experiencing the art, you will meet up with the host and other participants for a facilitated conversation. Seems like a perfect day to spend some contemplative time with Shaun Cassidy‘s sculptures or Andrea Chung‘s installation at the Gantt.
