WEDNESDAY
Looking to get outside for a little art-related fun tonight? Check out the Mint Museum’s Fourth Annual Party in the Park. This free event takes place on the front lawn of the Mint Museum’s Randolph Location (2730 Randolph Road). It’s a fun-filled, family-friendly event, benefiting the Mint’s Annual Fund. Pack a picnic and participate in outdoor games set to summer music. The event includes an opportunity to check out the permanent collection, while enjoying a cash bar, food trucks, and a movie once the sun goes down. The event is free, but registration is preferred (with a suggested $10 donation to the Annual Fund).

Elder Art Gallery is open Wednesday – Friday from 10am-5:30pm and Saturday from 10am-2pm. This is the last week to catch the Fourth Annual Juried Exhibition Carolina’s Got Art. There were more than 3,000 entries and juror Eliza Rathbone, previously Chief Curator at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, selected the works on view as well as the award recipients.
Are you a Modernist Society or Firebird Society level member at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art? If so, enjoy an exclusive event, Picnic on the Plaza, on Thursday, May 28 from 6-8pm. Cocktails, picnic fare and live music are part of the celebration. RSVP by May 25 via email or phone 704.353.9207.
SATURDAY
There is a pottery sale this Saturday from 10am-4pm at the Pineville Lake Park, 1000 Johnston Drive. The event will feature 25 potters from Charlotte, Asheville, and Seagrove areas. This is a great opportunity pick up some unique birthday or housewarming gifts!
Also on Saturday, check out the Plaza Midwood Art Crawl, beginning at 4pm. Local artists are paired with local businesses such as Zada Jane’s, Soul Gastrolounge, Okra, and Dish. The Facebook event page has more details. Check it! Don’t forget to drop by Gallery 22 and see their latest show, a group portrait exhibition entitled, No Really, It’s Not You, It’s Me. The exhibition is only up through May 31.
