That’s ok, we all need to decompress after the holidays, but it’s a new year and it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Prizes: One artist will be awarded a solo exhibition the following year.
General info: All media exhibition that will showcase artists whose work expresses, explores and questions ideas about identity. Identity is defined as the way one perceives and expresses one’s self (self-identity) as well as other’s individuality or group affiliations (such as national or cultural identity).
Deadline: January 13, 2016 via Submittable.

Prizes: $100 Best in Show
Hosted by the Asheville Area Arts Council, to be exhibited at AAAC Gallery located in The Grove Arcade, in downtown Asheville, NC.
General idea: MUX: Asheville is a Video Art Festival created by video artists, art theorists, curators, & educators seeking to expand the field for new media and video art.

27th National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition
General idea: Drawings and prints in any medium are eligible with no limitations as to color, surface or materials. All drawings and prints must be original works of art and must be framed (no larger than 60″ in any direction).

Exhibition Dates: March 29 – April 22, 2016
Entry cost: $36/3 entries
Juror: Jordan Faye Block
Prizes: A minimum of $1,500 available in purchase prize money.
Documentary Essay Prize
General idea: The prize honors the best in documentary photography and writing in alternating years. This year’s prize will be for photography. The focus is on current or recently completed work (within the last two years) from a long-term project. This year’s prize will be for photography.
Deadline: February 16, 2016 via Slideroom.
Announcement: June 2016
Prize: One winner will receive $3,000 and will have his or her work featured in Document, a periodical published by the Center for Documentary Studies, as well as on the Center’s website. The winner’s work will also be placed in the Archive of Documentary Arts at the Rubenstein Library, Duke University.
