Next Thursday The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is screening a film about one of the most important institutions in the development of modern and contemporary art. Fully Awake: Black Mountain College tells the tale of the legendary arts education experiment in the mountains of North Carolina founded by John Andrew Rice. Led by Josef Albers’ curriculum and featuring incredible faculty including Willem D Kooning. John Cage, Robert Motherwell, Merce Cunningham and Jacob Lawrence, Black Mountain College gave us some of the most influential artists and innovative thinkers in American History.
The screening begins at 6pm with light refreshments and cash bar, and opening remarks by Alice Sebrell, Program Director of the Black Mountain College Museum. Grab your popcorn and join HappeningsCLT at the Bechtler next Thursday night because we wouldn’t miss this one – and you shouldn’t either!
Purchase Tickets here or call 704.353.9200. $10 for the public, $8 for museum members, $5 for Students with ID.
