This week we’ll bring you coverage on all of the cool visual art happenings in Charlotte, from the moire/screenprint Sharon Tate images at SOCO’s Robert Lazzarini opening to the larger than life insect portraits in the Wunderkabinett exhibition at the Light Factory. In addition to these and other great events, we want to remind you that two art festivals are starting this weekend. The first is Sensoria, which is a decade old celebration of art and literature hosted by CPCC and jam packed with events. The second, BOOM Festival, is a newcomer and highlights our “fringe” art scene.
What: “BOOM is Charlotte’s first artist-led annual showcase of experimental/contemporary performance and visual art” (emphasis on performance art). Some events are ticketed.
When: April 8-10, 2016
Where: Plaza Midwood
We’re excited about: Todd Stewart’s and Andrea Vail’s “Intersections” (all day art installations)

What: “A Celebration of Literature and the Arts.” Great events with a mix of local and imported talent, with literary lectures and art shows galore.

We’re excited about: Charles Williams’ solo exhibition CONTINUUM/Night in the Ross Gallery. Reception is on Thursday April 14 from 7-9 p.m.
