The Neighborhoods in Creative pARTnership initiative is a collaboration between the City of Charlotte, Public Art Commission and ASC to facilitate neighborhood-based public art. One such collaboration, Now is Fireworks, was created by Amy Bagwell and Graham Carew of Wall Poems of Charlotte back in December, but is just being dedicated this weekend in honor of International Sculpture Day.
The project is a multi-part installation that includes a stainless steel structure in a roundabout adorned with the words Now is Fireworks, the title of Bagwell’s poem about the Elizabeth neighborhood.

The community association secured funding so that in addition to the roundabout piece and around 30 temporary “wordhouses” such as the one seen below, Bagwell’s poem will find a more permanent home on an exterior wall of Studio K.
Celebrate this work with us on Saturday, April 23 from 1:30-4:30pm at Studio K, 2024 E. 7th Street.
