Call for Exhibition Proposals
What: Open call for artists and curators to submit proposals for the 2017 and 2018 exhibition seasons.
Where: 1708 Gallery in Richmond, VA
Why you should apply: The gallery is committed to providing opportunity and space for experimentation and artistic growth, while promoting contemporary art.
What you get: Exhibitions are approximately 6 weeks long and artists receive a $1000 honorarium, along with shipping, travel, installation, and exhibition support.
How to apply/Deadline: Submit here. Application and $20 fee due by 11:59pm on May 31.
Call for Public Art
What: MTA NYC Arts & Design seeks images of artists’ previous work to review in consideration for new Percent for Art projects to be fabricated in durable materials to be determined, such as porcelain enamel, glass, or mosaic.
Where: The subway stations are located at Prospect Avenue, 53rd Street, and Bay Ridge Avenue in Brooklyn.
Why you should apply: Many reasons, but one is that approved fabricators help translate the final artwork into the identified medium, so prior public art experience is not a consideration. Read: this is an opportunity to get experience with public art.
What you get: The budget for design and fabrication of the artwork for each subway station is approximately $150,000, including an artist fee of up to 20% of the final art project cost.
How to apply/deadline: Submit up to 20 images along with a short application form, a bio/CV, and brief artist statement here. Deadline is 5:30pm on May 31, 2016.
What: ArtPrize, the largest art competition in the US, seeks applications from any artist over 18, working in any medium, from any place around the world. Since the event began seven years ago, around 11,000 artists from around the world have participated in this event.
Where: all over Grand Rapids, Michigan
Why you should apply: Huge exhibition with potential for big prizes (between $12,500 and $200,000)
What you get: Depends. There are opportunities for awards through the Pitch Night, Seed Grants, Artist Grants, and more.
How to apply/deadline: Did you know there is a Pitch Night coming up in Durham for NC artists? Check out the details here. But otherwise, the regular application is open through June 2 via online application process. View the detailed instructions for ways to participate.
What: 11 month residency
Where: HUB-BUB, Spartanburg, SC, in partnership with the Spartanburg County Public Libraries. The artist’s time will be divided between their own artistic projects and community work with the Library.
Why you should apply: Time, space and community to develop your work. All artists need residencies!
What you get: Living expenses are covered, including an apartment, all utilities, and a monthly stipend of $750. Artists also receive financial support for materials and development of community project.
How to apply/deadline: Submit via Call for Entry by June 3.
