As we wrap up Summer 2016 in Charlotte and move into the Fall, its time for art events to start picking up the pace again! Here’s what is going on this week that you should pay attention to:

Not one but two exhibitions are opening on September 1st at the VanEvery & Smith Galleries at Davidson College. And they are two that you do not want to miss!

William Cordova: Ceiba: Reconsidering Ephemeral Spaces
In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the last Davidson National, and in the spirit of this exhibition, Material Matters: Water, Pigment, and Light, features works from 8 artists from across the US: Nancy Baker, Matthew Brandt, Chris Duncan, Selena Kimball, Lavar Munroe, Liz Nielsen, and Shoshanna Weinberger in the Van Every Gallery, and William Córdova in the Smith Gallery.

DADA Soiree
In the spirit of Dada http://bit.ly/1NBAPc2 and the Avant-Garde, artists April Marten and Amanda Medina have partnered In conjunction with Gallery C3 to celebrate an absurd night of ART.
Dada Soiree’ was born out of a recent debate at Charlotte Arts Chat where questions were raised about contemporary art.

Rust Revival
Works by Nancy O. Albert & Renee Calder. “Creating art that embraces the aesthetics of decay.”
Opening reception is September 2, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm.
Light refreshments will be served. The show runs from September 2 to September 25th.
Sharon Dowell: Smashup
Join us for a mini-show of works from recent years focusing on collapses and current messes. Two collaborations with local artists Arthur Brouthers and Amy Bagwell will also be included
