Wednesday, October 12

Tonight is the reception for the Horst P. Horst exhibition, Around That Time, Horst at Home in Vogue, at SOCO Gallery. Ivan Shaw, producer of the exhibition, will be on site for a reception and book signing beginning at 6pm. The reception is free and open to the public. A selection of limited edition prints will be available. Additionally, the new monograph is available for $75, and can be pre­-ordered by emailing info@soco-gallery.com.

Friday, October 14

New Frequencies at McColl Center presents Lewis Klahr’s new film, Sixty Six. The animated collage just premiered at the Museum of Modern Art and has been described as an hypnotic dream of 1960s and 1970s pop. The film costs $5 for members/in advance and $7 at the door.

Saturday, October 15

On October 15, grab the kids and head to Family Day at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Kids and families will have the opportunity to explore the Bechtler’s current exhibitions through hands-on activities and family friendly tours. Visit the 2nd floor classroom to create a glitter glue mosaic inspired by the Bechtler’s iconic Firebird or the museum lobby for a jewelry-making activity. Join a tour to learn more about the Bechtler’s current exhibitions. Admission is free for kids under 18 years of age; $8 for adults.

Also on Saturday, the Mint Museum will also a family-friendly tour and workshop at the Randolph Road location. In the Pastel Pumpkin Painting class, your child will learn the basics of color mixing, using pastels and paints, to create an awesome fall painting. The workshop, for kids ages six and older, requires advanced registration and costs $16 per participant ($12 for Mint members).
