Encaustic painting by Chris Craft, one of the 2016 CSA Artists
Since 2013 the Arts and Science Council has put on a program called Community Supported Art. Based on the Community Supported Agriculture Model it is a way for a group of people to get a delivery of art each month. The artists are paid a $2,000 commission to create 50 works of art. Then 50 shares are sold and each person who buys a share receives 9 new original artworks throughout the year.
Any artist in the Charlotte area* working in clay, wood, fiber, glass, metal, natural products, mixed media who is over the age of 18 can apply to be a CSA artist for next year. The deadline for applications is October 24, 2016. You can find out more on how to apply here.
