Attend ARTS Day 2018 on May 23 & 24, a two-day conference packed with artists and arts leaders from across NC. First, you’ll prepare for action; then you will have the opportunity to meet with your elected representatives at the NC General Assembly to deliver your prepared message about the arts. On the same evening, the Cornelius Arts Center will host a meeting to update the community about the project’s progress. The event will feature a presentation and Q & A session with executive director, Justin Dionne. The event takes place at Brick Row, 19725 Oak St #9. Doors open at 5:15 pm; the presentation will begin at 6:00 pm. The event is free to attend and there will be craft beer from D9 Brewing Company and other refreshments available for purchase.

Meet photographer Jim Herrington during his artist talk at The Light Factoryon Thursday, May 24, beginning at 6:30pm. Herrington’s talk will center primarily around his newly released photography book, The Climbers, the culmination of a twenty-year project seeking and documenting legendary men and women “Golden Age” climbers of the early to mid-20th century. Herrington’s book received both the Grand Prize and the Mountaineering History Award at the 2017 Banff Film & Book Festival. The artist will sell and sign books after the talk.
