Curated by Jessica Gaynelle Moss, the exhibition, featuring work by 50 different artists, investigates how artists incorporate (or do not acknowledge) their race in their art practice. These multiple perspectives will be visible in the 70 works on view, and in the accompanying exhibition catalogue. Artists include Martin Puryear, Theaster Gates, Mickalene Thomas, Rashaad Newsom, and Kerry James Marshall.

Check out the Uptown Arts Crawl from 6-9pm which includes the opening of several exhibitions including Wandering Landscape at Lark & Key, and Larry Horowitz at Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art. It’s also a great time to check out other exhibitions you haven’t had a chance to see yet, including At Play: Ellie Richards and David Halliday at Hodges Taylor Art Consultancy, Wrestling the Angel at The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and more.

Goodyear will highlight work by their three April/May artists in residence, Debora Koo, Nathaniel Lancaster, and Elisa Sanchez. Exhibition will remain on view through June 23. A performance by Nelly Anderson, the May Research Resident, will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Nathaniel Lancaster, Honesty is an Actors Worst Mistake, 2018. Oil, acrylic and spray paint on canvas, 40 x 40 in.
