There seems to be quite a bit of turnover in the Charlotte art world lately. In the past, when we have been in the market for a job, we frequented several websites including the Arts & Science Council; the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the American Alliance of Museums. If you are interested in finding a job in the cultural sector, you might want to check out the sites mentioned. Below, you will find a few interesting jobs that are currently open here in Charlotte. (FYI, we hear there will be a few more positions posted soon.)

Digital Communications Specialist at the Becthler Museum of Modern Art – If you have 1-3 years of experience, an undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related area, and you are an expert in social media, this full-time position might be your dream job.

Teaching Artists at the Cornelius Art Center – There is a rolling application deadline for Visual Artists interested in teaching youth or adult classes and workshops. They are particularly interested in instructors with ceramic knowledge.

Executive Assistant to the President, Accounts Payable at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation. This job doesn’t sound like the most creative job out there, but it would be a great opportunity for someone with a few years of office experience looking for an entry point into the non-profit world.

Art Handler at the Mint Museum. If you have experience installing/de-installing art, handling art objects, packing and crating works for transport, and fabricating object mounts/framing works of art, apply to this full-time position at our city’s biggest art institution.
